What you’ll do.

Learn to master techniques like alzapúa, arpeggios, tremolo, picado (picking), and ragueo (strumming), over memorized repertoire to help you develop speed, agility, and accuracy, as well as rhythm.

Class is based on the techniques class originated by Alquilino “El Entrí” Jimenez, from Cañaroto, Madrid, and Flamenco Masters like Paco de Lucia, Sabicas, Pedro Cortés, and more.

Study Focus

Soleá, Alegrías, Tangos, Bulerías, Guajiras, and more. Each week you’ll learn sections of a Palo (song form) called “falsetas”, and build towards a complete solo piece. You’ll also learn how these falsetas (melodies) work in context with the dance and cante (singing).

Dance Accompaniment

By Appointment Only

Learn the palo (form) and structure of the dance while understanding how to identify the dancer’s cues. Explore the related chord structure following the cante (song) and discover how to use falsetas (melodic phrases) alongside rhythmic patterns of the right-hand technique like rasegueo (strumming), alzapúa (thumb), and arpeggios. These skills are crucial in complementing the dancer’s choreography and footwork, fostering confidence, and gaining dance accompaniment experience.
