The Colorado Institute of Flamenco proudly provides exceptional quality instruction in flamenco guitar, catering to individuals of all ages and skill levels. Our comprehensive and thoughtfully structured studies are carefully designed to help students advance their understanding and mastery of the rich art of flamenco guitar, enabling guitarists to pursue a wide variety of personal goals and aspirations in a relaxed, encouraging, and supportive setting. Technique & Repertoire

What you’ll do.
Learn to master techniques like alzapúa, arpeggios, tremolo, picado (picking), and ragueo (strumming), over memorized repertoire to help you develop speed, agility, and accuracy, as well as rhythm.
Class is based on the techniques class originated by Alquilino “El Entrí” Jimenez, from Cañaroto, Madrid, and Flamenco Masters like Paco de Lucia, Sabicas, Pedro Cortés, and more.

Study Focus
Soleá, Alegrías, Tangos, Bulerías, Guajiras, and more. Each week you’ll learn sections of a Palo (song form) called “falsetas”, and build towards a complete solo piece. You’ll also learn how these falsetas (melodies) work in context with the dance and cante (singing).

• TUESDAYS | 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
• Pre-Requisite: Must have at least 1 year of guitar playing experience and some knowledge of chord vocabulary. Otherwise, we recommend taking private lessons to start.
Learn to develop a very specialized set of skills and techniques unique to flamenco guitar playing in a relaxed and supportive environment. In my class, I carefully train guitarists of all levels in the development of their techniques, while helping you build your collection of flamenco solo repertoire and falsetas (melodic lines). Explore both traditional and modern forms, including influences from jazz, to broaden your musical repertoire and deepen your understanding of flamenco guitar.
Guitarists in this class can join Andréana during dance class to gain experience in accompaniment.
Advance registration required for the 2024/2025 school year.
