If you’ve never experienced a group flamenco guitar class before, we invite you to give one of our classes a try on a drop-in basis. The cost for a single class is $24.00 FG101, $30.00 for FG201. What you’ll do.

Learn to master techniques like alzapúa, arpeggios, tremolo, picado (picking), and ragueo (strumming), over memorized repertoire to help you develop speed, agility, and accuracy, as well as rhythm.

Class is based on the techniques class originated by Alquilino “El Entrí” Jimenez, from Cañaroto, Madrid, and Flamenco Masters like Paco de Lucia, Sabicas, Pedro Cortés, and more.

Study Focus

Soleá, Alegrías, Tangos, Bulerías, Guajiras, and more. Each week you’ll learn sections of a Palo (song form) called “falsetas”, and build towards a complete solo piece. You’ll also learn how these falsetas (melodies) work in context with the dance and cante (singing).

Our Intro to Flamenco Guitar class is tailored for the absolute beginner and for those who are entirely new to the flamenco guitar genre, offering a patient, step-by-step guided journey through flamenco techniques, rhythms, and essential repertoire.
You’ll learn foundational chords, essential arpeggios, and distinctive techniques unique to flamenco guitar playing, giving you the skills and confidence to move on to our Technique & Repertoire class.

Flamenco Guitar 201 / Technique & Repertoire

• Pre-Requisite: Must have completed Intro to Flamenco Guitar or at least 1 year of guitar playing experience with good knowledge of chord vocabulary and transitions.
CLASS DESCRIPTION

This class takes it up a notch both in pace and depth. Learn to develop a very specialized set of skills and techniques unique to flamenco guitar playing in a relaxed and supportive environment. In my class, I carefully train guitarists of all levels in the development of their techniques, while helping you build your collection of flamenco solo repertoire and falsetas (melodic lines). Explore both traditional and modern forms, including influences from jazz, to broaden your musical repertoire and deepen your understanding of flamenco guitar.
Guitarists in this class can join Andréana during dance class to gain experience in accompaniment.
